A Devastating Fire Sparks Unexpected Challenges
On the early morning of Friday, November 22, the owner, Chuck Frommer, arrived at the restaurant located at 3730 Thom Blvd. near North Decatur Boulevard and West Gowan Road to find his business engulfed in flames. The blaze, which originated from a smoker malfunction, quickly spread to the back of the restaurant, consuming a newly purchased freezer and other equipment.

“It just shot up this big ball of flames out of the blue,” Frommer explained. “Minutes later, it erupted again, making things worse.”

With no one immediately calling 911, Frommer and his staff grabbed hoses to fight the fire themselves. The intense effort ultimately paid off, as they managed to extinguish the flames without external assistance.

Assessing the Damage
The fire left behind a hefty financial burden. Frommer estimates losses at $125,000, including ruined products and destroyed equipment. Despite this, his gratitude remains unwavering.

“We were lucky it happened at night,” he shared. “If it had been during the day, someone could have been seriously hurt.”

A Community Rallies Together
In the wake of the fire, the Las Vegas community showed up in full force to support the iconic restaurant. Neighbors and friends worked tirelessly for two days to clean up the debris and restore some order to the decades-old establishment.

“We couldn’t have done it without them,” Frommer said. “Their help was incredible.”

A Business Built to Last
For over 70 years, John Mull’s Meats and Road Kill Grill has been a staple in Las Vegas, known for its mouthwatering barbecue and friendly service. Frommer, who has managed the family business for 43 years, remains optimistic about the future.

“This is just a challenge, and we’ll overcome it,” he affirmed.

John Mull’s Meats and Road Kill Grill is more than just a restaurant—it’s a cherished part of the Las Vegas community. As it rebuilds, fans of the eatery can look forward to its triumphant return and more unforgettable meals in the years to come.
